The Governing Body

The Governing Body

The Governing Body of the federation of Netley Abbey Infant and Junior Schools is a group of dedicated people that work in partnership with the Leadership team in each school and are committed to securing the best possible education for every child.

It consists of a variety of governors whose function is to represent interests of the children.

Some of them are parents of children in the school or have had children in the school. Parent Governors are elected by you the parents.

The other Governors are appointed by the Local Authority and from the Local Community.

The one thing they all have in common is that they all have the desire to work with the Executive Head teacher to ensure the quality of Education at both Netley Abbey Infant and Junior Schools are continually improving.

The full Governing Body meet every half term to discuss and agree the strategic direction of the school and review progress. Day to day leadership, management and decision making is delegated to the Head teacher. The Governors work strategically with the Head teacher and staff to agree school priorities, improve standards and provide a range of challenge and support to the schools leadership teams.

Over the past few years the role of the School Governor has changed dramatically to meet the requirements of new Government legislation. This has meant Governors having to invest considerable time and effort to their role, attending meetings, and undergoing training in order to best interpret these changes for the benefit of the school.

Being a Governor is a challenging but rewarding role that makes a significant contribution to the running of a successful school.

Governors are present at most events and are very happy to chat with you. Parents who wish to contribute to the work of the governing body should contact the chair of governors through the school office.

Clerk to the Governors:
Mrs Jane Parker
